Maureen Denise McCormick, youngest daughter and sole daughter of Richard McCormick and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills on 5 August 1956. Her father taught in the school system, and her mother was a stay-at-home mom. She has three older brothers: Michael, Dennis and Kevin. McCormick was a gifted singer and dancer from a young age. She was a puppeteer who would present shows to children from the neighborhood she lived in. The fame-making fairytale of McCormick started when she won her first Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest in the year six, which led to an inquiry from the an agent for talent Pat Domigan of the Jack Wormser Agency, who inquired if she wanted to work in showbusiness. McCormick was chosen for her first role of note in 1964. McCormick appeared in a Mattel commercial featuring the doll Baby Pattaburp. That same year, she starred in another advertisement for the doll of Mattel "Chatty Caty" and soon was cast at La Jolla Playhouse as her role as the youngest daughter on the upcoming TV sitcom, The Brady Bunch. McCormick is one of the more than 1200 kids who had auditioned, won the role of the oldest daughter of three two-headed sisters as part of The Brady Bunch. The show was a collaboration between Florence Henderson, Robert Reed and a newlywed couple. The show ran for 5 seasons. McCormick stated in her 2008 book, Here's The Story: Surviving Marcia Brady & Finding My True Voice that she was close to having losing her virginity in the fifth season of the show with Barry Williams, her co-star and onscreen brother. He was 19. He was 16. She claimed that "it was likely to have happened" however the timing was not just right.
